现场︱重新聚焦媒介：东亚录像艺术的兴起

OCAT上海馆新展“重新聚焦媒介：东亚录像艺术的兴起”已于今日（12月27日）顺利开幕。

The new exhibition Refocusing on the Medium: the Rise of East Asia Video Art has opened today at OCAT Shanghai.

OCAT上海馆执行馆长张培力、艺术家王功新、中国美院跨媒体艺术学院研究员董冰峰、OCAT上海馆执行总监陶寒辰现场出席论坛，策展人金曼和艺术家朱加线上出席，论坛同步在bilibili直播。

Zhang Peili (Executive Director of OCAT Shanghai), Wang Gongxin (artist), Dong Bingfeng (Researcher of School of Intermedia Art, China Academy of Art), Tao Hanchen (Assistant Director of OCAT Shanghai) attended the Opening Forum. Kim Machan (the curator) and Zhu Jia (artist) attended the forum online, which was being live streamed on Bilibili. 

展览“重新聚焦媒介：东亚录像艺术的兴起”首次汇集来自日本、韩国和中国，开创了录像艺术实验之先河的重量级艺术家，旨在重新审视艺术家在东亚录像艺术兴起之时对于这一媒介的处理方式，并以期为跨国性当代艺术媒介的录像艺术在全球范围内的历史梳理做出贡献。

Refocusing on the Medium: The Rise of East Asia Video Art firstly assembles key protagonists that initiated experiments with the medium of video originating from Japan, Korea and China, on view from 27 December 2020 to 21 March 2021. The exhibition proposes a re-examination of the artists approach to the video medium rising from East Asia and contributes to the global history of video art as a transnational contemporary art medium.

策展人金曼录制视频远程致辞（OCAT上海馆执行总监陶寒辰中文翻译），参展艺术家代表王功新、OCAT上海馆执行馆长张培力致开幕辞。

Kim Machan, the curator of this exhibition gave a remote speech online (translated by Tao Hanchen, Assistant Director of OCAT Shanghai). Zhang Peili (Executive Director of OCAT Shanghai), and Wang Gongxin (exhibited artist) gave a speech respectively on site. 

本次展览展现东亚录像艺术是如何在后媒介的当代艺术实践之背景下，成为一种以录像艺术之媒介特殊性为条件的全球混合艺术形式。作为一种特征鲜明的新技术和实验性艺术媒介，录像艺术的到来没有文化传统的先行铺路，也没有重要的艺术惯例或历史前提——但它却成为了一种全新的全球性当代艺术工具。

这种媒介观使我们有理由来重新调整思路，重新评估东亚艺术家对这段仍有争议的历史的贡献。东亚艺术家是如何举起录像设备、并对这一新兴的全球媒介展开实验的？这是否会改变我们看待录像艺术史的方式？

This exhibition shows how the rise of East Asia video art developed as a hybrid global art form characterized by conditions of video art’s medium specificity in a context of post medium contemporary art practice. As a new technology and experimental artistic medium with distinct characteristics, video art arrived with no cultural traditions, no significant conventions or history – a new global contemporary art tool.

This view of the medium gives reason for a recalibration of thinking and reassessment of the contribution that artists from East Asia have made to this still contested history.  How did artists in East Asia take up the apparatus of video and experiment with this new global medium and can this change the way we might approach the history of video art?

开幕导览分为线上线下两个部分，策展人金曼提前录制导览视频为无法来到现场的观众进行线上导览；在线下展览空间，OCAT上海馆为现场观众提供线下导览。

Online and on-site guided tours were provided. The curator Kim Machan filmed a guided video for remote audiences while another guided tour by OCAT Shanghai was held for audiences present at the event. 

展览12月29日（下周二）起正式对公众开放，每周一闭馆，元旦假期（1月1日至3日）正常开放，展期至2021年3月21日。

This exhibition will be open to the public from 29 December - next Tuesday - (normally open during New Year's holiday - from 1 Jan to 3 Jan) till 21 Mar, 2021, closed on Mondays.
