摄影术的发明似乎给人类创造了记录真实的可能，但操作这个照相机的却是一个主观的人，主客、虚实总是交织在摄影中。摄影时而是主观意念的传达，时而是对客观外在的记录。又随着数码技术的发达，摄影术似乎失去了专门性，而是成为创造图像的方法之一。
而中国当代摄影的创作者们无疑都在强调自身的观念与美学，并都带上了自身不可磨灭的中国元素，反映出他们对于历史、文学和现实的反应与态度。罗希、马良、潘钺、辛冈、徐杰、张巍和朱锋都在试图用摄影去展示观念之“虚”用之于图象之“实”，在这虚实交错间呈现出作为摄影艺术的个体存在。（摘自策展人：徐杰）

amanasalto Shanghai is proud to present its launch exhibition“Imagination and Reality” by 7photographic artists: Luo Xi, Maleonn, Pan Yue, Xin Gang, Xu Jie, Zhang Wei and Zhu Feng from July10 – August1, 2015. The curator is Xu Jie. The opening reception will be on July10, Friday, 6-9pm.
The invention of photography has created the possibilities for human beings to capture the reality. However, the person behind the camera is always subjective. The subjective and the objective, the imagination and the reality are always intertwined in photography. Sometimesphotography conveys subjective intentions;other times it records the surrounding objects.With the development of digital technology, photography has also lost its specificity as a medium and became one of the common ways of producing images.
Contemporary Chinese photographic artists emphasize their original concepts and aesthetic senses. They emphasize their indelible "Chinese elements", which are considered as their reflection and attitude towards history, literature and reality. Artists Luo Xi, Maleonn, Pan Yue, Xin Gang, Xu Jie, Zhang Wei and Zhu Feng reveal their fictional concepts by realistic images in photography in order to portray their own individuality as a photographic artist, in between imagination and reality.
