[北京]“硬卧” 7+/-1在中国的澳大利亚艺术家

此展览是由7个澳大利亚艺术家在访问中国两个月的一个结晶,融入了中国文化的多元性的创作,也是“想象 - 澳大利亚文化年”的项目之一。

策展人Catherine Crol 带领艺术家包括:Fiona Foley, Guy Maestri, Frances Bel e Parker, Peter Gardiner, Phil James, China De La Vega和Zhou Xiaoping 由乘硬卧车开始到全国各个省进行为期一个月的当代艺术界之旅,其中包括平遥、西安、华山、成都、重庆、大足石窟、长江、武汉和上海。

在此之间他们拜访了中国当代艺术家,参加了艺术座谈会和参观了艺术工作室,研究他们的技术和思想,并就澳中两国的当代艺术实践趋势展开对话。又在一所地震后重建的小学担任义务教学工作者。

然后他们将来到北京,参加为期一个月的跨国文化交流活动。来访的澳大利亚艺术家将在位于北皋艺术区的红门画廊个人工作室驻扎。这次文化交流活动中所创作的艺术作品将在北京红门画廊展出。其中有两件雕塑作品将拍卖,拍卖所得善款将捐
给四川小学和北领小学。

此项目由澳大利亚外交部通过澳大利亚国际文化理事会赞助。澳大利亚驻华大使馆、巴特勒(上海)有限公司和上海世博会澳大利亚国家馆的大力支持!

硬卧 – 7+/-1在中国的澳大利亚艺术家将于10月30日在红门画廊开幕,持续到11月14日。

PRESS RELEASE

Hard Sleeper, 7 +/- 1 Australian Artists in China a wonderful y eclectic exhibition is the culmination of a two-month immersion into Chinese art and culture undertaken by 7 Australian Indigenous and Emerging artists as apart of Imagine
Australia – the Year of Australian Culture in China。

Led by "China Facilitator" Catherine Crol , the group including: Fiona Foley, Guy Maestri, Frances Bel e Parker, Peter Gardiner, Philjames, China De la Vega and Zhou Xiaoping began their adventure by travel ing via local transport (hard
sleeper) to some of China’s most interesting provincial cities and historic sitesincluding: Pingyao, Xian, Hua Shan, Chengdu, Chongqing, Dazu Grottoes, the Yangtze River, Wuhan and Shanghai During their tour they met with local contemporary artists, participated in forums, engaged in public and private debates, toured artist’s studios and arts districts, conducted classes for hundreds of primary school children in earthquake ravaged Sichuan and served as VIP guests at the Australian Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo。

This was fol owed by month of frenzied activity during their Red Gate Gal erystudio residency where the artists produced an extraordinary range of artwork including two large works on steel panels from the recently ‘decommissioned’Australian Pavilion which were auctioned to raise funds for the Xingren Primary School in Sichuan and the Epenarra School in the Northern Territory。

This project was funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs through the Australian International Cultural Council (AICC) and supported by Australian Embassy Beijing, Bluescope Butler (China) and the Australian Pavilion Shanghai
Expo。

Hard Sleeper, 7 +/- 1 Australian Artists in China wil open at the Watchtower on October 30 and run until November 14.
